SDC233-Use Squares

This week at SDC233, Corrie is our hostess. She wants to see squares. Here's what she had to say:

"I am very fond of circles in my work, so I want to get outside my comfort zone and use squares for a change and I would like you to join me. Have Fun!!"

I started with a 4 x 4 square and used Tim Holtz's Burlap stencil and applied Texture Paste randomly thru it for some squares. Then I cut out some different size squares from cardstock and applied them here and there. I then used Tim's new Distress Crayons to color my background. LOVE how lush and creamy these new crayons are. I would compare them to a lipstick in creaminess. Once all of that dried, I added some more squares with a felt tip marker and also went around the glued on squares to help define them. I used Kira Nichols Monster News stamp and one of the kitties from her Kitty Squad stamp.

Animal Mash-Up!

It's the 26th, and that means it's my day once again to be the featured Design Team member on Roc's blog.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do with this month's design. I stamped all of my animals and cut them out. But I had a little trouble with my scissors and I accidently cut their heads off! Oh well! I soldiered on best as I could. I got some of them mixed up. OK. I got ALL of them mixed up. I hope Roc doesn't mind that I made some new animals out of her stamp designs! ;)

I used every animal stamp of Roc's that I own. ElliePolka Dot DogPonyTailDogBunnyFeline, Screaming Bunny, and Party Dog
And I threw Scalloped Lace Border in for good measure!

All of Roc's stamps can be found at Stampotique!

SDC232-Spots and Stripes

Time again for the SDC232. Sam is our hostess this week and she wants to see Spots and Stripes.  Here's what she said about her challenge:

"I love anything spotty or with stripes and I also love stripes but the two can be difficult to combine. So my challenge for you this week is to use Spots and Stripes together in your creations, Have fun"

I borrowed an idea from Claudine and made a couple of bookmarks. I will be using them on Flood The Streets With Art day on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I will abandon them somewhere and hope they find a good home with someone who likes to read!

I used Color Burst to color my base, then came back in with two different red Distress Inks for my Spots and Stripes. I then added some additional circles (spots!) with a lid and then with paint on the wooden end of a paint brush. I used Magda's Mr. Owl and Roc's Scalloped Lace Border which I alternated Spots and Stripes on. I also sewed around the border of the bookmark.

12 Tags of 2016-February

It's time once again for Tim  to revisit  some oldies but goodies techniques for the 12 tags of 2016.

This month, he revisits Monoprint and Embossed Texture Paste. I did both techniques and added some Sparkle with Tim's new Distress Glitter Dust. I used a photo from one of the photo strips on my tag, which I crumpled up to make it look even older!

SDC231-Love Is in The Air

Coby is our hostess this week for SDC231.  Here's what she had to say about her challenge.

Love is so sweet and so tender...love is more than a boy than a boy and a girl.....love are my children, my grandchildren and animals... show in your creation this week, Love"
There you have it, it's all about Love this week.

I used Distress Stains to color my tag. I just got Tim Holtz's new Cat Crazy stamp set and am really having fun coloring them! I had a couple already colored on my craft table, so I put one to good use. I added Roc Nicholas' Stacked Love,  which I cut apart and Flying Heart, which is hanging from Mr Cat's tail! I added some new Stickles Mercury Glass for some bling on the hearts and there is also some Wendy Vecchi Pearl Mica Spray that I sprayed thru Tim's Hearts stencil for some subtle shimmer.

SDC230-Mardi Gras

It's time again for the SDC! Kathi is our hostess this week and she wants to see Mardi Gras colored or themed artwork.

Who better to represent a good time and party atmosphere than Party Dog?! He's always ready for a celebration! He found a cool pair of new sparkly glasses in one of the shops on Rue Bourbon and he's also grown a set of legs using Stand Tall and is ready to Les Bon Temps Rouler, Let The Good Times Roll, New Orleans style!
