Compenduim of Curiosoties III-Painted Industrial

It's time once again for the Compendium of Curiosities III challenge. Our hostess is Linda Ledbetter.  We are, as always, working out of Tim's book of the same name. Our sponsor this week is Inspiration Emporium and one lucky player will win a $50 gift card! This week's challenge can be found on page 46 if you're playing along. And you really should be if you aren't!

I had so much fun with last week's challenge using the burlap panel that I decided I'd incorporate another into this week's challenge as well. I saw this quote somewhere in my Internet travels and liked it, so I used the bird and did this week's technique on it.

Compendium of Curiosities III Altered Burlap Panel

It's time once again for Compendium of Curiosities III! Our wonderful hostess, Linda Ledbetter has all the details along with the design team's contribution. We are following along in the book by Tim Holtz. This week our sponsor is The Funkie Junkie and they will be giving one lucky player a $25 shopping spree.

This week's technique can be found on page 37, Altered Burlap Panel. And as always, I can't tell you how I did it, but I can share a couple of things. I was blown away by Paula Cheney's blog tutorial on making ginormous flowers with Tim's  Jumbo Tattered Florals Die. I bought it and the new Butterfly die and embossing folder combo last weekend at StampFest Orlando and decided that was where I was starting with my panel. I love the technique of the flowers and will be using it again! I decided my butterfly needed to be a monarch and colored it with Distress Markers.

July tag of the month

Time for a new tag of the month! You can see Tim's fabulous sample here.  I don't have a couple of the things he used, so I just went my own way. I don't have the dies to cut the Nautical Blueprints, but I DO have the stamps, so I stamped and cut mine out. Decided to go with the shell instead of the seahorse. I also don't have shrink plastic, but I DO have a bubbles stamp, so I stamped the background with the bubbles. It's faint and if I had it to do over, I might do it in a darker blue, but I'm ok with it! I also used some of my Graphic 45 By The Sea paper for the shells along the bottom. Some are popped up with foam tape. I really loved the homemade sand technique that Tim shared this month! That was fun to do!!
